This show is a Qualifier for the NPS Area 4 Points Competition open to all Area 4 Members of The National Pony Society. This Competition is Sponsored by Hair and Beauty World with the Overall winner receiving £100
You do not need to be a member of The National Pony Society to compete in any class at this Show

NATIONAL PONY SOCIETY CLASSESNPS Mountain and Moorland Qualifying Rounds: These classes are judges under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain and Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible. Ponies to be trimmed only within their Breed Society specification. Manes must not be plaited and tails must not be braided.
Qualifying rounds are open to both NPS Members and Non Members but only the highest placed NPS Adult member, on production of their membership card in the ring, will be eligible to qualify for the Final. A valid Membership card must be in the Rider’s/Handler’s possession on entering the ring.
The first prize winners from each class will go forward to the Final to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show, Malvern, in August. A pony may only qualify once. Where the first pony in the class has already qualified, the pony standing next in line which has not qualified will be deemed the qualifier. Qualification may go no lower than third place
NPS Adult/Standard members will be required to upgrade to Adult/Showing to enter the Final. Qualified Ponies must be entered into the NPS Competition Final within 14 days for the pony to be eligible to appear in the Final.
NPS Silver Medal Championship conditions: these Championships are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded where the Owner of the champion pony is a Member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the Rider’s/Handler’s possession on entering the ring and be produced in the ring. If the owner of the Champion Pony is not a Member, or the Owner’s membership card cannot be produced in the ring, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provide the owner is a member of the NPS and the membership card is produced in the ring. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the Qualification Card goes to the Reserve Champion pony provided the Owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the Qualification Card can only be awarded to the Champion or Reserve Champion.
Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show 6th -8th August 2008, providing they send to the NPS Secretariat the relevant entry fee and qualification card.

The NPS Home Produced Mountain and Moorland In Hand Championship
These Classes are open to ponies which are stabled at home or in a DIY yard and which since 1st January 2008 have not been shown by a producer or stabled in a producer’s yard other than on a DIY basis or at stud. To be owned, produced and handled by a person who does not derive income from working with ponies or horses. Please enter these classes in the spirit it is intended. Competitors who contravene the above will be disqualified. A Producer is someone who has a pony on their yard to show for a client and therefore a financial interest, not someone who helps in times of necessity.
Class 30 Small Breeds In Hand - Stallion, barren mare or gelding, 4 years old or over. Registered in the Pure Bred Society Stud Book of Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor and Welsh Section A & B.
Class 31 Large Breeds In Hand – Stallion, barren mare or gelding, 4 years old or over. Registered in the Pure Bred Society Stud Book of Fell, Dales, Highland, Connemara, New Forest, and Welsh Section C & D
Class 32 Small Breeds Youngstock In Hand – 1,2 or 3 year old colt, filly or gelding. Registered in the Pure Bred Society Stud Book of Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor and Welsh Section A & B
Class 33 Large Breeds Youngstock In Hand – 1,2 or 3 year old colt, filly or gelding. Registered in the Pure Bred Society Stud Book of Fell, Dales, Highland, Connemara, New Forest and Welsh Section C & D
Class 34 Large And Small In Hand Brood Mare – in foal or with foal at foot (foals accompanying a mare must be 3weeks old or over). Registered in their Pure Bred Society Stud Book.
Class 35 Foal of Above. Must be eligible for Pure Bred Registration. All foals must be a minimum of 3 weeks of age, on the day of the show.
In Hand Championship -1st and 2nd Prize winners in classes 30 to 35 will compete. Champion and Reserve will then go on to the Supreme Mountain & Moorland Show Championship
The Mountain and Moorland In-Hand Champion and the Reserve Champion both qualify for the ROSEBERRY NORTHERN BREEDERS IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIP to be held at the NPS Area 4 North of England Show on Monday August 25th 2008. The Qualifier does not have to be a member of the NPS.
NPS MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND IN HAND KILMANNAN STUD SILVER MEDAL ROSETTE CHAMPIONSHIP. A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by The National Pony Society for the best registered pony in the Mountain & Moorland In-Hand Section. The Sponsor’s Rosette is also awarded to the pony receiving the Qualification Card. (See NPS Silver Medal Championship Conditions in the schedule)

The National Pony Society/Picton Mountain and Moorland Novice Ridden Championship
To be judged under the Rules of the NPS
Stallons, Mares and Geldings four years old and over.
A pony shall not be deemed to be a Novice if by 1st January of the current year it has:-
i) won an open NPS Affiliated Ridden Mountain and Moorland class
or ii) won a class at an Olympia/HOYS or RIHS Qualifying Round
or iii) qualified for the Novice/Intermediate Ridden Mountain and Moorland Final at Malvern
Subsequently, once a pony qualifies for the NPS/Baileys Horse Feeds Mountain and Moorland
Supreme Ridden Championship (Olympia) it may not compete in any further Novice classes at NPS
Affiliated Shows.
All ponies in Novice Classes must be shown in one of the snaffle bridles illustrated on page 62 of
NPS 2008 Showing and Competition Rules.

Class 43 Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A and Welsh B mares and geldings four years old and over. Riders must not have attained their 14th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.
Class 44 Dales, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Connemara and Welsh C mares and geldings four years old and over, not exceeding 138 cm (13.2hh). Riders must not have attained their 18th birthday before the 1st January in the current year
Class 45 Dales, Fell, Highland, New Forest, Connemara and Welsh D mares and geldings four years old and over, exceeding 138cm (13.2hh). Riders must not have attained their 18th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.
Junior Ridden Championship 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes 43 to 45 will compete.

National Championship
To be judged under the Rules of the NPS
Class 46 Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh A and Welsh B mares and geldings four years old and over not exceeding 122.cm (12.0hh). Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but must not have attained their 9th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.

To be judged under the Rules of the NPS
Class 47 Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest, Welsh A and Welsh B mares or geldings four years old or over not exceeding 128 cm (12.2hh). Riders must have attained their 3rd birthday but must not have attained their 12th birthday before the 1st January in the current year.
Mini Ridden Championship 1st and 2nd prize winners in classes 46 and 47 will compete.
Champion and Reserve Champion will then go forward to the Mountain and Moorland Supreme
Show Championship.
